It passed

Just got the disco back from the garage with a new shiny MOT certificate.

2 Advisories:

• Play in both front wheel bearings
• Wear in rear damper bushes

Looks like I have a weekend of wheel bearings and suspension coming up!

As the back end is looking a little low I am going to replace the rear springs and dampers. Currently deciding over standard or heavy duty springs. Bizarrely the HD springs are the cheaper option.

MOT Prep

Did an oil and filter change today in prep for the MOT tomorrow. By the looks of the air filter it hadnt been changed in a good few years. I also used some 10k Boost which you spray into the air intake as the engine is running at aprox 2000 rpm. Judging from the cloud of black smoke that ran the full length on my street it has shifted some crud.

Also had a good look at the boot floor. Discoveries have a common issue with water leaking in and collecting on the rear floor panel. This then rusts and eventually needs replacing. My disco has some rust that I have wire brushed and painted. So far there are no holes but I am going to keep a close eye on it as it can only get worse over time.

There a few things that need to be done to the vehicle in the next few days. The MOT expires in 2 weeks so a bit of prep work is needed.

To do:

• Clean interior
• Scrub interior
• Steam clean interior (Getting the theme here!)
• Buy some mats
• Remove side steps (Dont like the look of them and they reduce break over angle)
• Full service
• Clean intercooler
• Change timing belt
• Fix surface rust on rear door hinges
• Check everything works for MOT

A few things that I intend to do soon but are not urgent:

• Replace broken radio aerial
• Replace tape deck with CD player
• Replace drivers seat foam

My new disco

I thought I would try a blog format for a change. I intend to post to this blog about the various things I intend to do (and probably a few I didn't intend) to my Land Rover Discovery.
